Into the pitch black of the night
Where a handful stars from above threw light
I walked my way through those steep broken steps
To catch a glimpse of your broken spirit
On the broken wooden pier I stood
Flying high like a drunk should
And I saw, what I might not see again
What you are and what you should have been
Wild and limitless, yet so bound
Deep and shallow both at once
Makings of a river so pronounced
And for a moment, we were one!
I know you reached out to me
A cry of glory narrowed by foolish trappings
We wailed out in unison, called our ancestors as one
And I knew then my calling
I will never let myself become you
A river to a lake
Oh no, there is too much at stake
But I shall come back my friend
Just to let you know that I did not succumb
And that from a river I became a sea
While you shrank away from being free!
Motivating, I say.. :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice..
Maybe it was the silent ripples that brought me by. Hold on! did I hear the gushing waves?
